use with a 36V battery, but it's capable of running
at 48V. Although this
will provide higher top speeds (between 21-24 mph), it will exceed Federal Laws
and your bike may become classified as a 'motor vehicle'. At 36V this kit falls
within the power and speed limitations established by the U.S.
Federal Electric Bike Law, and in most states, no license or insurance
is required. For front hub kits, be sure you have a very strong fork made of steel.
This motor has the potential to rip from the dropouts of an aluminum fork.
