Our EG Milan Review:

The EG Milan is a top-of-the-line electric mountain bike loaded with features. One of the most flexible bikes in our lineup, it includes a powerful 350W hub motor, 36V Li-Ion battery, 3-setting pedal-assist, thumb throttle, 21-speeds, disc brakes, fenders and more. Not only is it flexible, rugged and tough, but it's also very comfortable with an adjustable high-rise stem, upright seating and Gila front suspension.

Powered by a long-lasting 36V/10AH Li-Ion battery mounted on the rear rack,
the EG Milan is fun and easy to ride. Compared to a 24V setup, it's slightly heavy due to the larger 36V battery (11lbs - 58lbs total), but it also provides more torque and higher top speeds. Securely lock the battery in place, or quickly remove it for storage or charging. Rated at up to 35 miles per charge in the "Low" PAS setting, the EG Milan is capable of excellent range (under ideal conditions).
15-25 miles is about average for riders who operate in "Medium" pedal-assist, and with no pedaling (or "High" PAS), 10-15 miles can be expected.

With a powerful 350W geared hub motor built into the rear wheel, the EG Milan is loaded with torque and takeoff ability. Great for hills, pulling loads or carrying heavier riders, use the thumb throttle to avoid pedaling altogether or choose from three pedal assist settings on the lighted handlebar control (Low | Medium | High). The low PAS setting provides the least amount of power and most range, but is still quite noticeable when you ride. In medium mode, the power is more apparent and the motor does most of the work while you pedal. And in high, the bike effortlessly takes off when you turn the crank. Unlike some PAS systems, the 21-speed gearing allows you to keep up with the motor even in the highest PAS setting, making it a very fast and easy to pedal along.

* ADDED IN 2011: Front and rear disc brakes. Updated electronics allow for separate throttle and pedal-assist operation (rather than dual operation).

Opinions & Recommendations:

The EG Milan is loaded with features and is one of our best selling electric bike models. It has all the qualities customers are looking for: lots of power, Li-Ion battery, 21-speeds and various modes of operation (throttle or PAS). Slightly more upright than a "true" mountain bike, it's adjustable high-rise handlebars and low center bar make the Milan very comfortable and the lightly treaded all-terrain tires are great in on-road or off-road conditions.
