Our IZIP Trailz Enlightened Review:
The IZIP Trailz Enlightened is the upgraded version of the popular IZIP Trailz AL and is one of IZIP's top-of-the-line "Enlightened" series bikes. Attractive and stylish with its fully concealed Li-Ion battery pack and sleek dark paint, its high-end components include a 6061 (aircraft grade) aluminum frame, 24-speeds, alloy front suspension fork and seat post, disc brakes and fully adjustable pedal assistance.
With its lightweight 24V/10AH Li-Ion battery pack, the IZIP Trailz Enlightened weighs just 50lbs and has an excellent range of 23-30 miles. Because of its integrated pedal assistance most riders can easily achieve this range, but for heavier riders or hilly terrain, 15-20 miles is more likely. Hidden inside the down tube, the battery cannot be easily removed or charged outside the bike. But it’s very “stealthy” and will last 2-3 times longer than a standard SLA battery.
The IZIP Trailz Enlightened is driven by a high-end brushless geared hub motor (on the rear wheel) that makes pedaling a breeze. Although this bike doesn’t have a throttle, it has a fully adjustable pedal assistance system that can be easily controlled from the lighted handlebar control. With an on / off switch and six power settings, riders can choose from a variety of pedal assistance levels. Or just turn the pedal assistance off and ride like a normal bike.
Opinions & Recommendations:
If you’re looking for a high-end e-bike with top-of-the-line components, the Trailz Enlightened is a great choice. Although you’ll be required to pedal lightly to operate this model, it provides excellent range and makes riding a breeze. Its upright seating position and 24-speed drive system make it ideal for long commutes or suburban riding. But if you need more control and don’t want to pedal, a throttle-controlled e-bike might be better.
