Our IZIP Via Lento Review:

The IZIP Via Lento is a stylish electric cruiser. An upgraded version of the EZIP Coastline, it's wide seat, upright seating and front suspension fork make it extremely comfortable and smooth - great for commuting or casual neighborhood strolls. With a 7-speed twist shifter and smooth all-terrain tires, the Via Lento is well-suited for suburban riding, but it also handles well on paved trails and bike paths.

Powered by an 18lb 24V/10AH sealed lead acid (SLA) battery, the IZIP Via Lento weighs in at almost 62lbs. Although it's quite heavy compared to other e-bike models, it's moderately priced and the battery can easily be removed for storage or charging. Another nice feature of all IZIP "RMB" (rack mounted battery) models is the ability to carry a second battery pack. Rated at up to 20 miles per charge (under ideal conditions with pedaling), 10-14 miles is more likely for most riders. You can double that amount with a second battery pack, but the bike will be much heavier and slightly more difficult to operate. PLEASE NOTE: IZIP now offers two Li-Ion upgrade batteries for this bike! 24V/6.4AH LiFePo4 and 24V/9.6AH LiFePo4

The IZIP Via Lento includes a high-end 250W brushless geared hub motor built into the rear wheel. Unlike the externally mounted chain-driven motor on it's predecessor (or an EZIP), this motor is very quiet and efficient and is barely noticeable at first glance. It's not overly powerful, but provides the perfect amount of assistance for most riders and handles flat terrain and moderate hills with ease. It includes a twist-and-go (TAG) throttle and optional pedal assist (PAS) that can easily be selected with the handlebar control. Operate by twisting the throttle, or switch to PAS for automatic assistance while pedaling. With only one PAS setting, it's not as flexible as some pedal assist systems, but it provides a nice alternative to the throttle and can help extend your range.

Opinions & Recommendations:

If you're looking for a moderately priced e-bike and comfort is your #1 priority, the IZIP Via Lento is an excellent choice. It's comfy wide seat and upright seating make it fun and easy for anyone to operate. Unlike the cheaper EZIP versions similar to this model, the IZIP Via Lento has a variety of upgraded components including a lightweight aluminum frame, high-efficiency hub motor and other longer-lasting bicycle components that will keep you riding year-after-year.
